Hand-made with the highest quality components by local pedal builder, Damian Stewart, The Fires of Mount Doom is a gnarly fuzz pedal (that can also be tamed a bit with some knob-tweaking) that is based on a well known pedal that rhymes with "Schmeevex Schmooly Schmammoth." Okay, that didn't work as well as I imagined so I'll just say it...it is a clone of the ZVEX Wooly Mammoth. And it nails it. It features the same four controls as the original but renamed (Flame = Output, Blaze = EQ, Heat = Pinch, Radiance = Wool). Plus, the switch lights up red when you engage it, which is pretty rad.
While Stewart may not be quite as established as some other pedal-builders (yet), we would keep an eye out for his future releases as he is constructing some very well-made devices. This is one of his first so it could be a collectors item one day. Or maybe it already is...
