To many guitar aficionados, Denny Kopp is a luthier that needs no introduction. His jazz archtop guitars have been played on stages all around the world and are well known by the top players in the industry. What some might not know is that he crafts all of these instruments by hand, using traditional building techniques in his workshop right here in Northern Ohio (Catawba Island), along with other stringed instruments such as mandolins, classical guitars, steel string flattops, and solidbody electric guitars.
We are pleased to present here one of his recent builds that he has described as, "one of the best" he's made - the Bellaneu Small Jumbo. This particular one features an Old-Growth Alaskan Sitka Spruce (float log) top, highly figured Claro Walnut back & sides, lots of Ebony, and a two-piece Mahogany neck, along with many other refined adornments. It's voice is full and focused, allowing for clear note-articulation on complex chords, without sacrificing power and punch. It is a guitar with a wide dynamic range, providing equally wonderful tones for soft fingerstyle playing, heavy strumming, and everything in between.
The onboard Barbera Transducer piezo bridge is a passive pickup that sounds very "acoustic" and requires no battery or preamp allowing for hassle-free, noise-free reliable performance every time you plug it in. A simple, sleek, flush-mounted Ebony knob with rubber grip allows for quick and convenient volume control while complimenting the aesthetics and overall visual appeal of this stunning instrument.
Another unique design feature is the flush-mounted straplock receptacles. These recessed pins accept Dunlop straplocks (included) which ensure you don't drop your guitar when using a strap but don't get in your way when you're not.
We could go on for hours about all of the fine details and the innovative designs implemented in this exceptional instrument, but we will let the pictures speak for themselves. We also welcome you to visit us in our comfy, climate-controlled showroom to take a look - and a listen - for yourself.
