For this clip, I chose Gold Tone’s Paul Beard Acoustic Resonator! Recently, I’ve been getting more into bluegrass guitar playing and the punchy, vintage sound of a resonator really captures the bluegrass sound in my head. One thing that I really like about Gold Tone’s resonator is that it’s effortless to play – there’s no learning curve to start playing it. In other words, it’s easy to get comfortable with if you’re used to playing a regular acoustic like me. That said, I think that the sound of the resonator really inspires me to play differently. I felt that not only did chords ring out punchier, but that single note and arpeggiated licks sounded super powerful. Another fun thing to do on this guitar is to put it in open tunings and play slide, if you wanna get some great old-school blues sounds out of it!
